Welcome! I'm so glad you are here! My name is Holly, and I am a birth doula (MCPCD), childbirth educator (CCCE), breastfeeding specialist (MBE), and Holistic Nutrition Practitioner. I have spent the last few years working as a family and newborn photographer and a birth doula. I have since returned to school full-time, pursuing a master's/doctorate program in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I now offer my photography services to clients I serve, and if I am not studying or attending a birth, I photograph my family. I am a mom to three boys aged 19, 18, and 7. I am also an educator for a local non-profit called Everyday Miracles, where I teach breath for birth and pre-natal nutrition classes. My passion for empowering women to have the birth they desire arrived during my first pregnancy, which unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I continued my career, which required extensive travel, and found myself attending births and discussing birth, babies, children, and postpartum care whenever possible. It wasn't until my final pregnancy when I was labeled as having a "geriatric pregnancy" and unable to find the support I desperately needed, that I decided to become a full-time doula. It’s important to feel supported as you navigate pregnancy and postpartum time; sometimes, you don’t want to rely only on friends and family. Having a support system in place is critical. There are stages to this journey, and they all look different. Having evidence-based information and support can ease your transition into the wildest ride of your life. In my opinion, the wildest and most rewarding experience lies ahead. I believe in you and hold space for you and your family.

Breath. It’s something that we do every day; however, it wasn’t until after I had my first child and had postpartum anxiety that I understood the importance of learning to control breath and its impact on the central nervous system. Studies reveal that changing breathing patterns allow it to restore balance to stress response systems, calm an agitated mind, relieves anxiety, and improves physical health and endurance. There are hundreds of different breathing techniques, and how we use them can directly impact how we handle situations and use them to our benefit. Once I could apply some of the practices, I could control and keep my anxiety at bay. These are not hard exercises; I can teach you how to use these in a labor and birth capacity, which will only give you more tools in your journey. Once I could apply the techniques, it was life-changing. I was able to use this tool in my motherhood journey and teach my children the power of breath and its benefits. I have found we need someone to teach us how to harness what we take for granted daily. It is amazing and beneficial to our whole body wellness.

Let’s talk about the positioning and movement of the birthing body. Depending on who you ask, there is an optimal fetal position. A baby that is LOA, which is left occiput anterior, would be considered to be in an optimal fetal position. I have found that the way in which we move our body in labor and delivery can have an impact on the fetal position. The more we understand about our body and the physiology of birth, the better we are for labor. We will spend time covering all of this to ensure you feel prepared.

Check out my free E-Book that will point you in the right direction in preparing for your birth.

Pregnancy is a notably busy time, and let’s face it...at times, extremely overwhelming. There is so much information available, and it is hard to know where to start. This is where you can look at me. I will provide the support, education, and information to help you make the best possible decision in your birth and postpartum journey. I hold high regard for the ability to be informed, prepared, and at ease to make the choices that work for your family however you decide to give birth. According to the Cochrane  Database of Systematic Reviews having a doula present at your birth can decrease the rate of c-section by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of Pitocin by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%.

I aim to hold space for families at their most precious time by providing evidence-based information on all the options and circumstances accompanying their arrival. I serve all families, no matter how you choose to birth your child or multiple birth. Please reach out to me for more information.
